Hello! Xin’en here, but sometimes I go by Xin from Singapore. It rhymes, is easy to remember and puts Singapore on the world map instantly. KoalaTravelstheWorld is the place where my dreams and reality collide. I write about my travels, inspire others to embark on journeys of their own, and ultimately encourage people to step out of their comfort bubble to experience all that this world has to offer.
In 2015, I quit my hedge fund job in a leap of faith to chase my dreams of travelling the world full time for a year. I hit the ground running in Turkey and have since been to over 50 countries across 6 continents. I left Singapore with a goal of spending the majority of my time in South America. But as serendipitous travelling would have it, I only set foot in the continent 8 months after the start of my trip. My 1 year journey also grew alongside my love for exploring new cities, cultures, bigger and badder hikes and having all these priceless experiences around the world.
My time abroad includes
- 8 months in South America
- 7 months in North & Central America
- 3.5 months in Africa
- 5 months in Europe
In that time, KoalaTravelstheWorld has grown from a readership of just 2 friends and 3 family members to an audience of over 10k monthly. I could not be more flattered and grateful that my stories continue to inspire, teach and encourage Asians to travel far and wide.

‘Travel is only as expensive as your need for comfort’
We are so fortunate to live in a day and age where travel, while definitely still a privilege, is much more easily available and accessible to us. The world has so much to be explored. There are so many experiences to be had, and so many mountains to climb. And I would love for you to join me on my ever-continuing journey to embrace the wonders of the world, take time to smell the roses, and learn how to travel to anywhere that your heart desires, even if you are on a limited budget.
